Some people inherit money.
I inherited a love of learning and teaching.
I didn’t fully understand where that came from until years after I began my career in technology — starting in high school, serving eight years in the Navy as an Information Systems Technician, and eventually building a career in cloud infrastructure.
I started in IT back in high school, and the truth is I still haven’t learned it all yet.
My path began with an early interest in computers that eventually led me to serve eight years in the U.S. Navy as an Information Systems Technician. During that time, I gained experience operating and maintaining complex communication and information systems.
After leaving the Navy, I moved into the civilian side of the industry. Over the years I’ve worked across many different roles. I’ve gone from being a repair technician to managing radio systems worth millions of dollars, working the help desk, and eventually moving into cloud administration and infrastructure engineering.
It has been a wild ride.
And I’m not done yet.
A Legacy I Didn’t Know I Was Following
When I was in high school, I had the opportunity to attend a college program focused on computer engineering. At the time, I didn’t realize there was a deeper connection to that opportunity.
Later, I learned that the very program I attended was started by my grandfather.
My grandfather, Ralph Bordeaux, spent his career at Cape Fear Community College and worked in nearly every role the institution had to offer. Over the course of his career, he served in positions ranging from janitor to leadership.

Eventually, he retired as Superintendent of Cape Fear Community College (CFCC).
He was a major influence in my life.
For a time, I lived with him, and during those years he instilled in me two things that have stayed with me ever since:
- A drive for knowledge
- A responsibility to share that knowledge with others
Carrying That Forward
I am not in a position to start a school the way he helped build one.
But I am in a position to teach.
Today, I share what I know through:
- Becoming a Microsoft Certified Trainer
- Creating GitHub repositories with tools, scripts, and documentation
- Teaching and mentoring others in cloud and IT topics

Building a Better IT Community
One of my goals is to help create a more collaborative culture in the IT community.
Too often in this industry, knowledge is guarded instead of shared. People hold on to information as if it gives them an advantage. In reality, that mindset slows everyone down.
When we share knowledge:
- The entire community improves
- New professionals grow faster
- Solutions get better
We should be helping each other become better engineers, better leaders, and better people.
If we have knowledge that can help someone else succeed, we should share it.
Lift others up.
Raise the standard.
Help the next person climb higher.
That’s the spirit I’m trying to carry forward — the same spirit my grandfather lived by when he helped build a school for others to learn.
I may not be building a college, but I can still build something that helps people grow. Through teaching, documentation, and the resources I share here and on GitHub, my goal is simple: make knowledge easier to access and easier to share.
If something here helps you learn, build, or solve a problem, then the mission is working.
Knowledge grows when it’s shared.
